How to fix Windows Runtime errors
Ever had an error message suddenly pop up onto your screen about a Windows Runtime error? If so, you know how alarming and frustrating they can be. They usually come with an explanation of the error, but these can be very technical and not clear to the regular user.
Runtime errors occur during a program’s runtime (the time a program runs and is active). The errors often have to do with a problem in the software, a lack of memory, something wrong with the Windows registry or a computer virus.
Here are some ways to go about solving these problems:
- Use a registry cleaner. The Windows Registry is a complex database that stores all kinds of information, such as settings and preferences, which is referred to often during the operation of your PC. The registry can become corrupt or so large that it can hurt your computer’s performance. A good registry cleaner can solve many Windows Runtime errors by removing these causes.
- Run a virus scanner. Anti-virus software will scan your system for viruses and other malicious malware – such as spyware, adware, keyloggers and Trojans – that can hurt your PC, rob it of valuable memory or cause it to perform erratically. Removing these viruses and other code will help your computer run better and protect your security.
- Close down applications. At times programs can be in conflict with each other. Also, you could have more programs running that your PC’s memory can support. A good way to close down programs and to see if this is helping is via the Task Manager. If working in Windows XP, you can access it by right clicking on your taskbar (the bar at the bottom of the screen) and then clicking ‘Task Manager.’ It is recommended that only users who are quite familiar with computers attempt this solution.
- Check the program manufacturer’s website to see if there is an update available. At times Windows Runtime errors are caused by bugs that software vendors have corrected in subsequent updates.
- Reinstall the program. This is not the easiest or most convenient solution, but it can help at times.
- Buy more storage space if the problem seems to be not enough memory. You could also try de-cluttering your system.
The problem with Windows Runtime errors is that there are many different kinds. These suggestions will put you on the right track to fix runtime errors and repair your computer.
