The Task manager – what is it?
The Task Manager is an application for Microsoft Windows that first appeared in Windows NT 4.0. Before that, the Task List application was used. The Task Manager includes many more features than its predecessor.
The Task Manager is a useful tool as it can provide a wealth of information about the operation of your PC. This includes statistics about its performance, processes, CPU usage, network activity, logged-in users and system services. You can also use it to stop or set priorities for processes.
When your computer appears to be running slowly, opening up the Task Manager is a good first step. You can check the RAM usage by looking at the commit charge on the status bar. If it appears to be much higher than usual, then you will need to consider upgrading your RAM.
If this does not seem to be the problem, then the problem could lie in the Windows Registry. The Registry contains your settings and preferences, and it can become corrupt over time by growing too large and unstable. Running a registry cleaner can often improve performance by fixing many errors in the Windows Registry.
The Task Manager is often a target for viruses and other malware. Various forms of malicious code will attempt to hide themselves by closing the Task Manager. You might get an error message like “Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator.” You can restart the Task Manager, but the way to do that varies by the version of Windows you are running. It is best to search online to see which method to use. As well, if you encounter this problem, it is best to scan your computer using a trusted anti-virus or anti-spyware product.

Both programs are working fine. I did not realize that there were so many errors and outdated programs/drivers on my computer. It shocked me...I did not think the computer would still be working with that many problems. I had to run both programs a few times to get the bad guys out of my toy, but thats not a complaint by any means. I am sure glad that I did not need a teckie working on my machine and having to pay him an hourly rate...believe me I will renew next year. I printed your email with the instructions in case I have a problem, I can then send you more than just my gripes...
Thanks again, I have a very large family history program that I need to work with and your program is definitely part of the team that will help me make it.
